Shall I Save Some Money....

Hi everyone.

Last year the old gls yaris (w reg 1.0 ltr) was given a list of work it needs doing on its visual safety.....

1) Require to reseal timing cover and sump - £470.00

2) Replace water pump - 200 and something pound

3) Noisy drive belt, needs replacing.

Its now almost due for another service, about another thousand before it reaches 100k! So i was thinking of changing the drive belt myself and while i'm at it i might as well do the water pump to save some money.

My dad hasn't bothered to get it done, probably because he already paid out loads of £££ in its last service! Car sounds awfull at idle and drives sluggish. Would me doing the belt and pump improve things?

What do you all think? I'm armed with a haynes book! I'd be gratefull for any feedback....

if you think you can do it, go right ahead.

I have to say i am a supporter of doing your own work.

If you cant do it yourself, take it to an independent mechanic. Shouldnt cost anywhere near as much as a toyota stealership.
