Well it wasn't to be, Today I did not pass my manual driving test  and am not likely to be re-taking it.

So now I need another automatic!!!!!! YAY!!!!!

My budget is £1500-£2000 or less  I would love to stay within the TOYOTA family mebbe with a celica, MR2, paseo or a starlet.

Failing that I am looking for a Ford Fiesta or 3 door Honda civic. :yahoo: Or maybe you would like to just give me your car :yahoo: well there is no harm in asking. I have been looking on Pistonheads and Autotrader, but I have not ventured near eBay :shutit:

Anybody know someone selling a good car??? Cash is waiting.

TIA Cali.x

Most jap imports are automatic..... shouldn't be hard to find one.

sorry to here that,

Unfortunatly most Paseo's are manuals - but if you can find an auto they are great cars

Celica's - you should find a decent ST202 for £2k Clicky (just an example) again one of the best handling cars i've ever driven.

I already have one Sera in the family, 2 would just be a crowd  and yeah they are super little quirky cars, that one in Autotrader is near me, if I remember rightly. I think its silver.

Oi man.....

Thanks for having faith in me and all but I will not be re-taking my test, IMO I feel that I need more time behind the wheel, getting more expeience, but its costing me a packet so its not really do-able. The way I see it is I need to get my auto and move on with life  but at least I tried

The way i see it.. is the amount of hassle it takes to find the rid car + the expense of running an Auto would be greater in the long run compared to getting behind the wheel a little longer and passing your test.

As you have failed to state.. you only failed with 5 minors and no majors so it aint like your a hopeless case... you were close to passing!

And they failed you on that!!

They must be harsher nowadays - when I passed my test I had 5 minors! All of them were for mirrors

As Fizz says, getting used to a nice car and driving on the roads generally is more important than re-taking something you're thoroughly fed-up with! Happy car hunting

It's a shame you didn't pass but I really don't think you should give up. 5 minors is absolutely nothing & you had a strict examiner so on another day you might have passed, keep trying & I'm positive you'll pass soon. As Fizzog mentions, with the amount of effort you'll need to put in to get an automatic you might as well just put that into passing your test, then everytime you decide to change your car you wont have this problem again. Giving up now would be a really poor decision imo

I feel there were some good points raised here ! Except the one about getting a Sera. I've got my hands full enough with mine at the moment.

Heya :)

I can appreciate how you feel... i remember failing my first test.... all minors like yourself.... I wasnt accustomed to failing at things really.

The second time I remember thinking about the dissapointment of the first and the assumed probability I'd fail again.... which I didnt.

I dont know what exactly made the diference ... I still had a couple of minors, my instructor even called me a ******* and said the examiner thought so likewise lol but i'd still passed and it was in the end worth the failure and the retake...

Theres any number of reasons why people fail... and more reasons why they pass as one thing is for certain..... the examiners know theyre in with people that are still really just learning. Maybe you had bad nerves(hell i did), maybe traffic was horrid for you that day, maybe the examiner was a miserable git that wanted to fail someone... theres a helluva lot of reasons why it may not have even been really down to YOU. Even drivers that have passed their tests make mistakes .... and you can bet the examiners do also ;) They expect a liitle margin of diference from 'perfect'

You may get completely diferent conditions the next time and certainly 'diferent' ones.

Flower the point for me is this.... someone thought "shes good enough to try for her licence", this person had faith in you and likely still does.... you didnt fail like the infamous maureen apparently..... to give up now would be to abandon all the effort youve successfully put in.....

having said that ... there are some very nice autos.... I guess for me I just try to regret something I have done rather than something I havent done: always :)

Chin up flower...

You will be fine

I have given this some more thought and in the future I will re-take my test, but not just yet.......life is a bit complicated at the moment, but given time it will become smooth once more, and only then can I get on with taking the test agian.

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement.

just seen this...

I am with the 'retake the test you sissy' crowd :P lol

Also... IIRC you cant fail your test on 5 minors alone(unless there were 3 in a single area - in which case its bumped up to a major).. unless they have got seriously more strict... I believe it was 15 minors...

so 5 isnt many at all... it doesnt cost much to get a couple of L-plates and get some practise in on a manual car hon... you dont -have- to go with an instructor all the time... if its just practise you want... ask some mates if you can take their car out.. even if its not on the main road and you are just getting more practise with gears hmm?
