Was the 2SZ-FE built in france and the other engine (cant remember the number) built in Japan? or was it the other way round?

The 2SZ-FE was built by Daihatsu, so it would make more sense if that was the JDM version. I thought that we in Europe got the 1SZ-FE 998cc, 2NZ-FE 1299cc and 1NZ-FE 1497cc, and no 2SZ-FE, but I could be wrong. Also, I believe the engine in my car is a 2NZ, but my car is French.

i'm not too sure on the 2sz-fe

but i'm 100% that the 2NZ-FE 1.3 VVT-i is the jap lump. as thats the engine in my 2001 SR and all MK1 P1 SR's where built in Japan

My Yaris I understand was built in France, but the engine ref. is 2SDZ****** ( I do not know what the Z stands for, but the engine is a 1300 petrol )

I know that the engine is based on a Daihatsu, but with modifications. ( Better performance, fuel economy etc. ) The big question is ...... was the engine built in Japan and then the car assembled in France or the whole thing built in France ?
