I'm thinking of changing my car-I have a Carina E at present for the last 7 years and a Carina 2 and a Corolla before that. I just wondered what the general consensus/view is about of these models, which one is the most reliable or are they all pretty much similar for reliability?

which Carina II are you talking about? as I remembered there was the 1986 and after that a more boxy model after it.

I had my 1986 carina II for a few years, the build for a toyota is excellent. But it all depends how well the owner serviced the car.

In our case, my dad wasnt keen on spending too much money on the car. plus, we coundt afford to keep the car maintained back then cause we had other money worries :(

I think on older cars replacing the timing belt is critical. As when we owned or Carina II we never changed it at the 110 000 mile marker and it causes damages to the pistons in later in the cars life. which it did to our car. :crybaby: And even then it stil kept going upto 124000 miles.

I am surprised I can remeber all this as my dad brought the car when I was a little tot

What year is your corolla?

Pretty much all the same car anyway. Go for whichever you like the best. None are particularly worse than the others.
