Intermittent Speedo Display

Hi All,

Slight glitch on the Yaris. Ther speedo (the sort holograph that appears to be down a tunnel somewhere under the bonnett!) intermittently disappears and or shows wierd readings (such as 140mph). I am presuming this is a circuit board thing, but:

1. Anyone experienced this?

2. Is it a known issue

3. How do you get to it!

140mph :o you must be a crazy driver mate in a 1.6 or something. are you sure you havent hit the trip button on the dash that changes it from mph to kph?! just a suggestion. i know in some cars digital display unts start getting faulty when they reach a high temperature, my friends car does it when he's in france and the car has been left in the sun, just a few suggestions

i had a similar problem with mine .....speed dissapeared but all the rest ,,,revs fuel etc stayed on .it turned out to be a faulty earth .....believe it or not ,from the Battery to the gearbox .....strange how the car started .and everything else worked

Those blinkin French eh, cause no end of problems! Don't understand why being in France has got anything to do with any sort of potential speedo probs but hey ho!

Sounds just like a dodgy earth mate. Disconnected my batt a month or so ago to put my standard air box back on and found I had the same prob. Checked the earth connection to the car and it was very loose. Cleaned the area where the bolt held the connection and used a bit of vaseline to help with conductivity and everything is now back to normal!
