For peace of mind you could get an AA full inspection of it. They'd be able to tell you once and for all what the car has probably been through.

you could try and contact the previous owner and find out a bit of the history.

It could feasibly be something like paintwork damage and nothing more. Excessive stone chips or 'etched' paint from parking under pigeon filled trees make a car look tatty. In cases like this it's easier to blow over the whole car with fresh paint than to retouch the individual areas.

Don't be too down till you know more about the history of it.

Did you get your car through a Toyota Dealer used car scheme?

If so they usually offer an exchange if you decide the car is not what you expected :

QUOTE FROM TOYOTA G.B. Used Car Website:

Complete peace of mind

With Toyota Approved, your car comes complete with a pre-delivery check, a mileage check, RAC Roadside Assistance, and a 30 day no-quibble exchange plan.

Hope you manage to get it sorted

"as far as the car dealer says its been hpi checked & not been involved in a accident"

Just to clarify, an HPI check does NOT tell you if the car has had an accident, It tells you if it has been in a total loss claim (write off) and any outstanding finance on it. Cars have accidents all the time, by your own words, it is a good repair, so don't be too disheartened. get an independent report (AA or whoever) and see what the outcome is first. Kingo

Got the car checked out really carefully by a bodyshop & got no structural damage & the paint work is really good condition that i got nothing to worry about & the car dealer did say if i want i can get the paint work re sprayed at no cost but i be wasting my time as it be no different & since its a met blue it wont fade, that was my main worry. while i was there the car does have a slight noise comming from th brakes & the front disc + pads need changing at no extra cost too which i getting done in 2 wks time! they were surprise i can tell its been re sprayed as hundred wouldnt of known or can tell but down to experience! so guess im happy as the engine runs fine & the interior is perfect ;) i got no problem if paintwork been redone if they done a good job & orginal colour, only worry was as to why, the bodyshop also said no signs of any dents that got filled, maybe paintwork was scratched from fron to back so had to get most of it re sprayed
