Well finally put down a deposit on an Elise R and traded in my Compressor. Get it roughly in 2 weeks. So it was short and sweet ownership! The compressor is an excellent car for the money especially used!

At least im staying with a toyota engine!

What is the fuel consumption like on the 190 engine?

if you can keep it out of lift then the 190 can be very good on fuel . High twentys no doubt possibly into the thirtys .

Yay!

Not that you're giving up your Compressor, but that you're getting hte VVTLi engine; I thought I read in another thread that you were going for the VX engine which I thought was a bad move.

Hard to say what you'll get from your VVTLi engine. The Elise is a very different car to any Toyota that engine is fitted to. Weight, gearing etc all play a part. I had that engine in a Celica and thought that the economy was very good when you were careful; it's designed to be frugal providing you keep the revs down. Problem is that to get the most from it you keep wanting to get it to lift in which case the consumption falls like a stone. The Celica would have better economy if its gears were longer, but of course they keep the gearbox very short so that you can keep it in the power band.

Anyway, bottom line is I'd expect you to be able to get very good economy in a lightweight, aerodynamic car like the Elise, but only if you take it easy.

Enjoy.
