Anyone done a rear fog + brake light (or even rear fog / side light) conversion on their toyota ? this is where the rear fog light also used as a brake light or sidelights, dont think all 3 can be used! seen this on some UK spec lexus IS200's where owners done this mod & looks cool, i wouldnt mind doing this on my corolla E12 T sport as i saw a white toyota RunX / Allex RS180(JDM Corolla hatch) the other week with a 4 brake &side lights which got me thinking ;) only problemo mine (uk/euro corollas) only got one rear fog light so would need to get another bulb holder & nessecary wiring...

Should be easy enough, couple of 1N5401G diodes and some wire and you're laughing.

Had to add rear fogs to my Supra when I imported it, so used one pair of the brake lights in a similar way :)

The Supra has 2 bulbs and reflectors on each side of the car for stop / tail lights. Now one of them per side works as a fog light as well as a brake light, the other is a brake light all the time :)

The diodes are to stop current flowing the 'wrong' way from the fog circuit to the brake circuit and turning your brake lights on with the fogs.

Note that standard fit foglights are brighter than brakelights are legally allowed to be, so it won't be legal.

Possibly, but a fog light is E marked 'B' or 'F' and has a minimum intensity of 150 candelas. A brake light is marked 'S1' or 'S2' and has a maximum intensity of less than 150 candelas ;)

(yes I swallowed the SVA manual while building the Striker)

aah, interesting (not actually being sarcy). I doubt that it's something that an MOT guy would pick up on though, unless of course it was an SVA and not an MOT.
