I personally think that one of the things that spoil those cars are the wider wheels that protrude outside of the arches :huh:

However saying that it is really nice to see older cars on the road and being used and, of course, in such good condition. Praise to the owners :)

I agree. In addition, it wouldn't be allowed under today's stringent safety specifications for road vehicles.

It is a look that was characteristic of the time. Similar to those shown in some of the pictures, lots of people would pop rivet extenders around the wheel arches to fair off the bodywork around the protruding tyres and that became an acceptable thing to do. The ones illustrated are fairly tidy but some were really rough. These days it would look way out of place to see the join and the rivet heads but seeing them like that carries me right back. I can almost smell the exhaust fumes that were common place. Don't worry, nostalgia is something that you will recognise more when you hit middle-age.

Like you say - Nice to see people still love these cars and are not afraid to use them.
