I am going to watch my girlfriends dad run the great north run this weekend but there is very little spectator information available.

I will be driving towards Newcastle from Wakefield and so think that Heworth Park and Ride may be the best way onto the metro and then around the course but will this be extremely busy during the weekend and are there any better alternatives do you think?

Any help gratefully appreciated!
