Video Editing Help

I have an mpeg file.. video and sound.. but I want to edit it and add photographs without breaking the video and soundtrack... I want the photos to sort of fade in at various points and then go back to the video..

Does anyone know if this is possible and any programs that a muppet can use to do it.

easily done on a programe called Avid on PC or Final Cut Pro on Mac, they are expensive though. I would stay away from movie maker but if you go somewhere like PC world and explain they would be able to help. I'm not sure on PC programes that look decent but if you had a mac i could help :P

I use Ulead Videostudio, very easy to use, you overlay photos to video, add soundtracks, very easy to use too, you should still be able to get older versions (Videostudio 7> are OK) all the later versions cater for HD movies, if your not creating HD then here is no need to pay out more than necessary

It's bugging me as i can play them fine on my computer but can't share them!
