Forum Members With Oversized Signatures

Recommended Posts

For people with oversized or large signatures.

Terms and Conditions

Participants may not use a "signature" with company information or any pricing information at the end of Forum messages. Signatures must be kept to a maximum of 6 (six) lines.

Signatures must not be more than 6 lines of text. 3 lines of text will be allowed with one picture no taller than 60 Pixels high.

So that's 6 lines OR 3 lines and a 60 pixel picture.

For various reasons it is important that members stick to these rules.

We currently have a short list of offenders so please adjust your signatures to within forum guidlines.

Thankyou very much!

I appreciate the reasons for this post as I was informed of my 'oversize' signature but don't you really think it would be better to simply inform the offenders via pm

individual members can indeed be informed by PM, but using a post like this too does help to inform and enlighten the membership as to what is permissable. We have new members joining all the time who may not initially be aware of the signature constraints in this forum.

The moderators can only PM the ones they see anyway, so there's always a chance that some oversized ones would be missed. As there seems to be several overized sigs lately, a public post will give a refresher to the group members.

As Boro posted, PM's have also been sent out regarding oversized signatures. This issue is becoming a concern hence the public post also.

cant you guys(TOC site tech etc) just do some computer jiggery pokery to make it impossible to submit an over sized siggy?

We looked into it but there is no way of restricting this. Our lives would be so much easier!

you can limit the height of the image using a basic HTML tag

Would mess up the proportion of the image tho, plus many have a mix between text and images

If it were php based I could knock up a script to automate it, but its asp based which is a whole different kettle of fish.

Depends...

Space-wise there is a very handy piece of code I use for phpBB which will resize images within the forums to a specified height/width ratio where needed.... might be an idea to also implement this here if possible...

as for size (kb-wise and dimension wise) this is enforceable... as avatars on many forums are limited to a size and dimension... it would just be a case of having to edit the code accordingly.. so instead of having a freeform type box.... where BBCode is inserted... there would need to be a freeform box for the text and an option to upload an image too...

Not true you can get images resized without messing up proportions

Being an authorised trader, does that exclude me from using the company info in my signature?

This is a reminder to new and old members who's signatures exceed 6 lines of text only OR 3 lines and a 60 pixel high picture.
