Firstly,as a newbie I would like to say what a great website this is and it has been very informative as I have been browsing, anyway, the pump on my windscreen washer has failed and from reading past topics it seems other toyota makes share the same parts,I have rung all the breakers in my area trying to source an original Yaris part but no luck,so before I have to go down the dealer route and have to pay £60,does anyone know the alternatives I could use? The breakers may not have a Yaris but other cars could be searched.Alternativly does any of you experts out there know where one could be sourced from? after googling for about 2 hours it seems they are hard to find.(cheaply that is!) it is the single pump with 2 outlets and a 3 point eletrical connection from a 99 1.0 GLS model.

Many thanks in advance.

bst rgds,

Andrew.

You could always try one of the online parts finding services. Or the old friend eBay.

I have checked on e-bay and there's nothing at the moment.I am normally a bit wary about using the online finders as The last time I used one I got spammed to death and the phone never stopped ringing with junk calls for weeks. If I cant see it to order I dont bother, unless someone knows a specific site they could recommened?

Unfortunately most accessory / spares shops including Halfords seem to stock very few washer motors that are suitable for any Toyota models.

When I was looking for one for the Celica I found that the bodies on the motors in Halfords look like they'd fit the washer bottle, but they don't have the right electrical connections. It's as if for some reason Toyota use different connectors to anyone else. If you're good with electricals you could perhaps get a Halfords one (about £20 I think) and modify your connections to fit it.

Alternatively, I think the options are to wait for the right one to appear on eBay or on a scrapper somewhere, or else bite the bullet and buy a new one. If the latter, PM parts king and see what price he can do it for. Bear in mind that a new one will probably last longer than one you get second hand so your money won't be entirely wasted.

Good luck,

Have you tried taking it off, giving it a good clean and connecting it to a Battery to see if it works? May not be the pump but connections/electrics. I would try this first, rather then fork out fifty or so notes, only to find the new one doesn't work.

BTW, you could try using a pay as you go chip in your phone for doing this sort of business. If you get tons of unwanted calls, just junk the chip and get another. Put it in your phone or an old spare phone, only when you need to. B)

ALSO, I have just pulled out an old thread, similar to your topic. Have a look.

I know this aint gonna help you find a new pump. But Id like to point out that the biggest enemy of washer pumps is tight wads using washing up liquid in the washer bottle. This washes any lube out of the pump and promotes it to rust inside causing it to fail.

I can never understand why the pumps are so expencive?
