Fitting An N95

Hi Guys,

I have looked at the threads discussing fitting an i-pod, but they all use the special fitting for the i-pod, and not the 3.5mm headphone jack.

I have just got the Mrs a Nokia N95, which has a fantastic music player on it. I would like to be able to link this with the Stereo in her Yaris, via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

I cannot see a button that says Aux on the stereo, so assumed i had no external inputs, but i assume it must have as people have connected the i-pod to it.

Can anyone tell me if i wil be able to run a 3.5mm headphone jack from her N95 to the back of the stereo?

The car is a '51 plate SR, if that makes any difference.

If anyone had any pics of the rear of the stereo, i would appreciate having a look at them.

Thanks in advance,

Jay

Hey.

The phone will be flat after listening to about 3 tracks lol. Hope she has an in-car charger as well! The Battery life on those is poor. I have one myself. Its a little better since I updated the software i might add.

Hopefully yours will be alot better being brand new. Is it the N95 8gig or standard?

Ey up mate,

i got excited when i saw i had a reply, as i hoped someone was telling me how to do it. I guess from the lack of responses that it cant be done.

As for the phone, it is the new 8Gb, which i also have, and let me tell you, if you are in the market for a new phone, get one. As you said, the new version of the software for the origonal N95 does sort a lot of things out, but nothing compared to the 8Gb.

I am always on line with it (like now) through my WLAN, i would guess about an hour to two a day, with about 30mins to an hour of 3G web surfing, as well as about 35mins of listening to music via my bluetooth headphones, while playing games, as well as around an hour of phone calls and god knows how many texts. All this, and i get between 1.5 days and 2 days from the Battery.

I managed to go away for the weekend without my charger, and did all the above and more, and it just dies about 30 mins away from home on Sunday evening. The thing that seemed to really sap the Battery was using the camera flash, it seemed each flash used 1 bar of Battery. lol.

Anyway, if you want a new one, get it, it is amazing.

The only problem i am having is that all the !Removed! vids i look at on line are WMV, and it doesn't support that file type, but other than that, i am well impressed.

Back to topic, if anyone knows how i can connect one of these to the Yaris HU without any major expense, please let me know.

Cheers,.

Jay

OMG! You do that much on it? What is the model of Battery they come with? It must be different.

You shouldn't really be publishing that you down' !Removed! lol. That should remain in ya bedroom. Got any good links? ONLY JOKING!

Sorry to get your hopes up about the thread lol. You will need to buy yourself a new head unit to fit inside the gap on your dash. One with an auxillary port on the front. There are some 'how to' links on this forum i believe to help you.

I have the N95 and the Battery lasts fine even when using the Tom Tom software which keeps the screen light up and the bluetooth enabled.

your only choice conecting the N95 to your stereo is getting one of those radio transmitter things that plugs into the !Removed! lighter and you tune your radio into it. I use one of those with my MP3 player which sits nicely in one of the cup holders.

Dom,

the batery in the N95 is 900mAh, but the Battery in the 8Gb is 1200mAh, and the new 8Gb works like the new versions of windows, where it only loads in the bits of Apps that it needs, so saves memory and power.

As for good links, i only use one site, and thats www.thehun.net

It is a directory, but it must be monitored, as it never has any bad links, like virus' or anything. I have used it for years, its great. But as i mentioned above, all the vids are WMV, and the phone does not support them. I could downlod them to the PC and convert them, but i only really want to stream them at the time, rather than clutter my memory up with them, i need that for my music.

Tan,

cheers for the advice, could you either give me a link to one of these things, or tell me what they are called so i can search them.

Cheers,

Jay
