I have a toyota hi Lux surf and want to disconnect the speedo cable and replace it. As the speedo doesnt work. I wanna do it myself! I think it is a digital one as it has a pin that the speedo arrow rests on. Is there a fuse?? or a cable that could have snapped? Where does it join the crank?

If there's a pin for the needle to rest on at zero then the speedo is electronic and has no drive cable. Instead relies on a pulse from a sensor on the transmission.

The sensor is the furthest one away from the engine, it's black and is secured with two M10 bolts. Either the sensor is faulty, the plug or the actual speedo head.
