Could be the motor's burnt or the pump is jammed. Fairly easy to repace if you get one from a breaker's yard. I'll try find where the fuse is.

hey thanks alot for your advice and effort. by the way is it a new motor you talking about picking up form a breakers yard?.. im pretty sure it is the motor because no noise it made at all when you pull the lever to activate the jets etc.

Motor and pump are a sealed unit so he means pick up a second hand motor/pump from a breakers.

They cost about £50 new so worth finding a second hand one if you can. I think the pumps from quite a few different Toyotas will fit.

Presumably you have a rear wash too; they often run off the same pump - is that working? If it is you could possibly swap the tubes as a short term measure.

no the back washer doesnt work either.. when i try to work any of them theres no reaction (water wise) no noise no water.. n then ofcourse the wipers work and do their job.. this is at the fornt and at the back. any ways so i know what im looking out for.. any idea how simple fitting is .. and whether its true that other toyota model motor/pumps will work if so what models?

cheers guys

if you've got a 12v bench supply you can remove the motor and power it up to check for problems.

If your motor works on the bench then you've got a power problem rather than a motor problem !

Hard to say which other ones will work - probably those from a similar year with similar features i.e. another car that has front and rear washers.

When my 91 GT4 pump went I found that the pump in the g/f's 95 Rolla was identical so I pinched that then found a replacement off a scrapped Rolla which was much easier than sourcing a GT4 one.

There really aren't that many types of washer pump - but the Toyota ones have different electrical connections which is why you can't just buy one for 20 notes in Halfords.

Fitting is a doddle because they're a push fit into the side of the washer bottle. All the water will leak out when you take out the pump so you might want to catch it in something, not that I'd use it again because it'll likely get contaminated. You also have two plastic hoses to disconnect and the electrical connection on the top. Apart from that it depends on access to the pump. On the GT4 you have to go through the wheel arch liner, but on the old 1.3 Rolla you just open the bonnet and the pump is right there on the side of the bottle. But that's on a 95 model yours is probably much harder to get to.

Strange that front and back have gone - not pointing to a motor/pump problem then. If you're messing aroung with that area, disconnect both connectors, put a multimeter on them and get someone to operate the switch and confirm you're getting power to the motor. Didn't manage to get the fuse location, I'm sure someone can give you the techdoc link.

Does the new rolla have separate pumps then?

Most (though certainly not all) cars have a single pump/motor which spins in opposite directions for the front and rear screens; In which case, if the motor fails then both front and rear can pack up together. Sometimes that isn't the case and the single device can have a problem in one direction or the other, though when that happens it usually isn't long before it packs up altogether.

Your right though, if it does has two seperate pumps then it would be odd for them both to fail at the same time.
