Is it just carbon and spoilers, or is it any interesting to see there?

I have never been, but in the current climate of spying in F1, I doubt you would get to see too much, probably lots of panels and spoilers as you say. I once did some work for the works rally team, and there are only certain people inside each team that are allowed to know about certain features, in the case of the old works rally Celica team, there were only 2 or 3 people who were allowed to strip an engine, and that had to be done back in Cologne. Mind you, that was in the days just before they got busted for cheating the turbo inlet size :o :o :o

I went to the Honda F1 open day this year and it was brilliant!

We were allowed to walk round all parts of the factory and even take pictures :)

I assume that Honda were not worried about us selling the photo's to rival teams, as last years car was so rubbish no one would want them!

I was fortunate enough to visit the Arrows Factory back in the late 80's when Warwick and Cheever were the drivers and Ross Brawn was the designer. Access was available to most of the factory save for the locked rooms that were working on the design of the following years car. The tour staff were fantastic as were the grandees - Jackie Oliver and the engine guy who's name escapes me - and an excellent day was had by all.

I agree with a previous post that with the recent Stepneygate affair, access all areas won't be on the menu. Enjoy the day all the same and come back and tell us how it went.

i've been to TTE in Koln, it was the f1 guys who fitted my compressor :D

And thanks to monster mat , i got to have a look around & even had lunch with some

of the main guys.

Been to the Williams F1 place in Grove - they rent it out for corporate presentations and then let people have a tour of their F1 museum afterwards (don't get to see any manufacturing or R&D though, sadly).

Had a wrap up speech by Tiff Needell before the tour- he sure don't like Alonso!!

Interesting though - real winning pedigree shown in the car lineup - Toyota might get there sometime (not sure what is taking them so long to work up the grid given the money available - different topic :) )

One thing which amused slightly - Grove is state of the art super-posh place, but the buckets they used around the various meeting rooms to catch the rain leaking through the roof were standard plastic types - expected carbon-fibre aerodynamic leak catchers at least
