So much for the criteria of being central with good road access

Central if you live in London I suppose(about 500 miles and 7/8 hours traveling for Davey in Scotland) and a road access to challenge my TomTom

Still early days <_<

Just wondering who will be organising TOC stand for shows this year?

Happy Birthday to me! lol

A long way for Scottish/Northern folk to travel though - it's a good 124 miles for me! :o

To be honest, I would go.... but if people are unwilling to travel that far (and quite rightly) then it's not going to be very well turned out really is it!

I'll have to think about it - I can't believe they confirmed a South East venue for 3 years... great for Londoners, not great for the rest of the country!

It's like the British International Motor Show all over again.... was in Birmingham - great location for all and some fool decided to move it to London....

Just expressed my opinion, whats wrong with somwhere like newark showground?

What? Apart from the fact that Newark is an anagram of W****R ?? :P

It would be handy there though, if only for it's close proximity to the Bubble Car Museum !

As I said, Anne & I won't be going and I recon there will be plenty of abstainers from Scotland with having the prospect of 1000+ round trips

It's not very far.... for those who live in Essex!

It's the Northern & Scottish members I feel bad for. Personally 130 miles or whatever it is, is nothing in my car.... but what about the JAE regulars, like Les & Anne, Davy & Caroline etc - to me JAE won't be JAE if those sorts of people arent there.... not through choice but due to the fact the location has been moved "down south"

Davy & Caroline will be lucky to have an 800 mile round trip - is JAE worth that?

Congrats to those in the South East who only have a short journey! Before JAE was "central" for most and fair with it... now it's not and personally I find that very disappointing....

Here's a quote from a post on the JAE forum

"To me being surrounded by water is a problem - it regularly gets cut off completely...they even have a page on the Mersea website dedicated to this..

http://www.mersea-island.com/tide-tables.cfm

You can get stuck trying to get on and off the island and drive through salt water..eeek!"

So the tides determine whether or not you can get onto the island - that's not good. Looks less and less like I'll be going to this one

I'm sure someone will sort a stand out (for those that will go) and anybody can do a BBQ, can't see there being a curry night though.

I know its a long drive for a lot of people. Infact its a long drive for me too. But its only once a year and it will be a good weekend. The weather should be a lot better in August that its ever been in July at Peterborough.

acstreet - im sure there will be other stands that would be happy to have you along if TOC doesnt do a stand. You can always pitch up on ours ;)

Surely JAE somewhere is better than JAE nowhere at all

I sort of know Mersea Island and frankly I think it is a cr*p location even though it is only a 60 minute drive for me. I have mixed feelings about JAE now :(
