I seem to have a water leak around my rear lights on my 95 celica, i found water inside the rear right hand side, if u take off the side panel and put ur hand down inside there is water in there.

are the rear lights easy to remove from the rear and say, reseal them with silocone or something? any ideas?

cheers Matt.

I have this problem in my ST162, both sides, thought it was due to having a softtop, obviously not. I have tried looking for where its coming in and i think its the boot seal. Luckily mine is waxoyled in and out so no rust, just a big oily puddle that i soak up regularly with old towels. Good luck!!

Yes, had this on my '99 Celica - right rear hand side, mind you never noticed it until recent traffic light rear end shunt.

This problem is usually because the drain hole in the bottom of the light is either blocked or was never drilled out in the first place (Usually on Jap pattern replacements).

The lights are exceptionally easy to remove and replace. One screw with a cover over at top when rear door open and two screws under the 'clip out orange vented bit' at the side. You can't miss the drain hole, it is at the lowest part on the light. If it hasn't been drilled out, you will find it cunningly marked out at the lowest point, just drill a small hole there! Whatever you do, don't seal this hole over, you will regret it.

Usually when these lights have (not) leaked for a long time, the lenses have become stained and discoloured to such an extent, it is best to find a good set on eBay, or at the breakers, and replace them. Cleaning them is a B****R.
