can anyone please help me i have recently purchased a 2.0d Toyota Corolla 1992 Automatic

my question is there is a red button just in front of the gear lever with a load of Japanese writing under it can anyone tell me what this button is for the gear lever has a button on it for overdrive but i cant figure out what the red button does ?????

Shift lock ? is it actually on the gear lever or next to it.

Shift lock is a feature used for unlocking the gearbox out of P (parking) mode into neutral like if your car broke down or cant get it started or without the keys & its in the way then you gotta move it, with it being in P mode wont be able to push the car even with hand brake off! but with older toyotas u dont need shift lock to select it into neutral, its the case with my dads old 1990 camry 2.5 years ago.....
