Upgrading Brakes - Discs & Pads

OK, last one before bed...

When I next replace my pads and or discs or both (which I think will probably be doing in the next 6-12 months) I have decided I'm not going to refit standard parts.

I've been looking at the various aftermarket performance pads and discs about, and reading peoples reviews of them, and I'm a bit confused, because I've read a lot of conflicting reports.

I was looking at EBC GreenStuff pads and EBC grooved and drilled discs, but are these the best choice for fast road use? Should I be looking at Black Diamond discs / pads or Mintex or even TRD etc?

I've read that GreenStuff tend to warp stock discs because of the higher operating temperatures, does anyone have any experience of this?

Also, does upgrading your discs and pads affect your insurance premium?

Cheers - Sid

If I were going for EBC i would go for redstuff pads on the front and greenstuff on the back. And i wouldnt get drilled discs.. Drilled discs tend to crack;

I have blackdiamond grooved discs and predator pads on mine, I changed them as the stock ones were just too spongy.. even though they were practically new!

I also changed to braided hoses... and they are still a little spongy, but much better, and the braking once bedded in was noticeably better.... the first time i had to slam my brakes on my head practically hit the steering wheel!

I did declare them to my insurance, but it didnt increase my premium.
