Anyone Know Anything About Nissan Primeras?

My brother's a taxi driver who's got a Focus estate which he's driven into the ground & he's looking to replace it with a diesel Primera estate. My initial reaction is to go Jap because Jap cars are reliable but I don't want to just assume without having some opinions 1st. He's looking at 1 that is around 3-5 years old with 25-50k on the clock & will be planning on keeping it for a good few years doing a lot heavier mileage than the average person. Are Primeras generally reliable?

Ta all

I've had 2 primeras a eGT p10 & a GT p11.

They were both wonderfull cars, we never had any problems at all.

If hes looking at 3/5 year old, your talking a late p11 or most likely a p12,

we've never owned a p12 but i've not heard anything bad about them.

Very , perfect taxi . Although i believe rust can be an issue on older ones.

Great, I've told him to bare the rust in mind, ta

Thanks Kimi, his Focus has died & would cost him double the value of it just to repair it so he's looking to just get a new car instead. For the time being he's using a Primera from the taxi company & he absolutely loves it so can't wait to get his own but I wanted to make sure they were generally reliable in case it's the odd model that happens to be unreliable.

I've told him the responses & he's driving to Oldham to view 1 later so thanks for the info

:lol::lol::lol: erm isnt this a toyota owners site, lol

Yeah, sorry, I'll stick to asking questions about my Toyo... erm... :bye:

Tell him to get an Avensis!!

Tried that but his heart is set now

Gutted, my brother went to look at 1 yesterday, it was a bit cheaper than other similar cars but he liked it & we thought he might have just been after a quick sale so my dad went along with him today. When he was having a look at the service history, he noticed it had had an MOT 8 months before it was 3 years old. My dad questioned it & the seller tried to blag him that he was wrong but my dad knew he was right but sort of let it go.

He then asked the seller if he knew what a HPI check was, he said he did & that it had had 1 when he bought it & it was clear. My dad asked him for the chassis number so that he could phone me & I could do a HPI check on the internet (I would have done 1 last night but we didn't know the chassis number was required) & the seller then had to confess that the car had been a Category D write-off.

My dad didn't even sit in the car & now he's on his way back home. Does my head in that not only did he not declare it from the offset, but he lied to hide it even when my dad was asking him outright if there was any kind of history of accidents. So basically my brother has driven to Oldham & back twice, my dad has had to take an afternoon off work when we're really busy all to find out something that he should have been told almost immediately, certainly yesterday when he was having a look at it, but this fella was trying to sell him a shed for a hell of a lot more than it's worth.

I just hope he's plagued by loads of tyre-kickers who mess him about, wasting his time like he has wasted my dad & brothers.

Better luck next time I suppose
