Warning Lights Fault

I have a Diesel Avensis - I have three warning lights showing on the display saying I have no water, no oil and no fuel. I do have all these things.

Main dealer has plugged car in to diagnostics which indicates glow plug fault but he says cannot be this as car starts. Cancelling this code just reinstates the fault again.

Main dealer claims he has no idea other to work through by trial and error which sounds expensive - Any ideas what this might be?

What were the events leading up to the lights coming on? Did they all come on together?

The way I would look at fault finding the problem, would be to check the wiring (as I can do this at home) then try and simulate the various sensors.

I'd have to say that gut feeling would be a wiring problem, if the wiring was all in order, then I'd go for instrument cluster, then ECU. The last 2 could cost alot!

No it starts straight away, no problem
is the car hard to start onmoning ?

No work done to car recently or even washed with the exception of the replacement of fuel filter following fuel contamination, car was not driven after fuel contamination incident. The event with the lights coming on happened some three days 80 miles later when all the lights came on together. The Toyota dealer does not think the two incidents are connected.

It looks like a visit to an electrical specialist me thinks.

This maybe a long shot but there is a big loom close to the fuel filter (well at least there is on my '05 D4D) There could have been some damage during the filter replacement? Or maybe a major connector was knocked out of place. I've not had my avensis long so not too sure on all of its systems yet.

Mine went in for the VCS ABS and engine management light being and after 6 trips to the garage and air bag sensors being replaced it was traced to a loose connection on the ECU make the suggestion to the garage it won't take long to check. Hope this helps. I have had a list of problems with my 2004. melted headlamps, steering shaft recall, steering rack to be replaced as of yet, shocks replaced, all under warranty. Check your lights.
