which bit of document is more important to the insurers, do they need a vsib certificate or as long as the device is thactham aproved that is what it matters?

I believe Thatcham approved means made to, and installed to, relevant standards by an installer who has the appropriate paperwork; so I'd say Thatcham Approved is probably what counts. You get a numbered certificate when you have a Thatcham approved alarm installed.

But that's a guess.

I thought all VSIB certificates were issued with a number, like a licence number that the installer puts on the installation paperwork....?
