Metallic Noise "clinking" From Under The Car

Hi

I have observed that my Auris makes distinct metallic kind of noises when I have come to a stop and gotten out to leave the car parked. It seems to come from underneath the car and it sounds like its coming from hot metal making small clinking noises.

Anyone else experience this and knows what it is?

If you brake the car and then start driving you can hear "tapping" noise as this is ABS pump (can be one or more clonks).

Note sure if that is what you mean.

I have heard this sometimes, it tends to be more apparent if i have driven the car hard. Don't think it is anything to worry about, i assumed it is just the hot metal parts of the engine/exhaust etc cooling down . I have noticed it on all cars i have had, not just the auris.

It is mostly the catalytic converter and exhaust cooling down, nothing to worry about. Great amounts of heat are generated in a cat (thats how they work!) :D:

Kingo
