Battery Warning Light And Brake Warning Light!

I own a 1992 1.6 gli, the Battery and brake warning lights keep on coming on. I have had the alternator changed three times as my mechanic thought that was the problem, he even brought in an electrician who said the same thing, that it was the alternator. This clearly is not the problem. Both lights keep on coming on now and i cant figure out what the problem is. If anyone has any idea what it could be or has had the same problem please let me know. Thanx

Welcome.

Ouch that's bad; My first intuition would have been the alternator too. I've heard of people getting several lights on at a time on various Toyotas and the alternator is often the culprit. But, if it has had three different ones, it can't be that unless they were all faulty which is most unlikely.

It's almost impossible to do better than an auto electrician who has seen the car but my thoughts would be:-

1. check any connections you can access. There's a great big multi-connector under the steering column, and several in the back of the display.

2. check that the display is earthed well.

3. consider getting a replacement display. Not cheap though - especially if your car has a rev counter as those ones are sought after by owners who's cars don't have rev counters.

Failing that I don't know what to try next. Someone will probably have some ideas though.
