I have seem something that I need from the US :P

Its big... (about 75" long and about 24" x 24") and heavy... (98LBS) and the company that sells it doesn't ship abroad :(

Anyone know how I can get it over to the UK? Ideally as cheaply as possible!

Its "volumetric weight" is too big for them :(

For those that are curious, it is this front bumper

ALL the parcel companies use the "Volumetric" calculation and doing it this way makes them a fortune. I have stopped sending goods abroad as this method of charging is universal

What you need is a shipping agent have it sent by sea, it's far cheaper and wouldnt take too long from the USA. You will have to pay duty and VAT when it lands. Anything weighing 98lbs is going to cost a fortune by air

you need an agent in the states, sorry I don't have any connections there, but you should be able to find one on the tinterweb, Texas is not that near the sea though is it

Cheers

Housten Texas is on near the coast of the gulf of Mexico ;) Has a big river that runs into it too...

Maybe if I rent one of those little boats with an outboard in Henley I can go and collect :D

Nothing that size, but my Son regularly brings in bits & pieces for his job as Sound Engineer. Some of the parcels are of reasonable size. He uses UPS who seem to be very quick & reliable. I didn't say cheap. :o

I don't know whether they have a size limit, but I'm sure if you Googled them, you should get all the info. Good luck

I would check one other thing before you get that nice little bumper over - Will it be road-legal in this country? It looks like one hunk of steel and you could run into bull-bar legislation problems :g:

Looks good though :)

My truck is old enough to have bull bars... it had metal ones from the factory :)

I deliberately didn't get one too new for that very reason ;)

I'll try UPS... Fed Ex quoted over £600!!!

Still waiting for a reply from the Freight forwarder.....

Aparrently the shipping dimensions/weight are

202 lbs 82 in. 34 in. 27 in.

How can packaging add 102 lbs? Is it packed in lead? lol

Or do you think that is their way of saying they don't want to do business with me???
