unfortunately i dont think any engines are safe from cambelt snaps! then again whether that engine is an intefering or non interfering engine i dont know.

There is a story on here when someone was giving it some on the motorway and it still knackered the engine.

Even non interference engines can be damaged by a cam belt snap (just often not as badly or something)... best thing to do is not give it the option... get your cambelt checked at the defined intervals and avoid the problem althogether

Sage advice JJ, not sure it was a general inquiry.

Stick a belt on it and try it, if it is damaged then you probably will notice when fitting the belt, but give it a run with the belt on to see. You wont need all the ancillary stuff set up just to try it

cheers all i have been given the car because the belt snaped while on idle on his drive way

i will try a belt so i can move the car and see
