Turbo Issues

I had the car on idle for 5 mins as i nipped in to my dads house yestoday, when i went to pull away the car puffed out what i'd say to be an excessive amount of blue/black smoke. i thought nothing off it as the turbo unit i have on the car is only 8months old and is well looked(warmed up/cooled down).

I got back to my mums and left the car ticking over for 15mins and then reved it slightly. the exhaust bellowed with smoke and i can here a none normal noise from the front of the engine(turbo grinding??)

Im i to think right that this unit is on its way out? the old one did this then 2 months afterwards the shaft snapped on causing me so much pain (15 hrs)cleaning pipes,exhaust,inlet mani,bov. you name it oil everywhere.
