Chongqin-based Lifan is making its own Mini, the 320 city car bearing more than a passing resemblance to BMW's finest small car and to the last-generation Daihatsu Sirion, albeit with a five-door body style.

The 320 will come with a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and five-speed manual gearbox, and is said to be good for 96mph. A 1.1-litre engine will follow and the Lifan will be very competitively priced to compete with other entry-level tiddlers such as the Chery QQ (a Daewoo Matiz rip-off).
