I noticed on this board, that there are not a lot of Carina E drivers.

why is that?

Here in Belgium it's just the same.

A Carina E, is just a car for OLD people :ffs:

Vico, you have the best modified carina in europe

Have seen a few at UK cruises but nothing comes close to yours.

In Denmark the scene is a lot bigger, check the gallery out on this site www.toyotaextreme.dk,

Happy Birthday BTW,

Ken

Funnily enough, I got bored and played a game of spot the carina e round Bristol/Bath area(yes i get bored very easily). I saw 47 carinas and the drivers were all under 30 lol (only 2 of them had any mods tho :crybaby: )

There are some very fine modded carinas over in europe (vico, you know how much I love your car  ) just waiting to see a few more over here!

I know what you mean about the shortage of carina input on this site, but it could have something to do with with carins being probably the most reliable of them all so we dont get many problems to talk about !

Very very true that, shame more people dont realise how reliable they are!

Yes i know what you mean, it amazes me that people buy mondeos, vectras, and even frenchies without any thought of carinas, must be down to the old fashioned ideas about japanese cars i suppose !

Funniest thing is, my brother bought a 3.0 v6 laguna recently, and he thought since our car was older etc he'd kick our asses. He ate our dust the other day........ :P

Carina E = "older" japanese beast that can still kick *****

Does the corona have a full closed rear?

I mean, if you see the rear of my car http://www.dragon-racing.be/members/vico/vico.html

You see the license plate om my trunk.

I have seen that the corona's from japan have a full RED rear or in the color of the car on the same place as my license plate.

Hey everyone! :D NE1 know the best place to post a q about turbo conversion for my carina E? Im going from NA diesel to turbo diesel and have managed to salvage a turbo and exhast man from a TD version for £350 +vat.

BTW dont diss the carina pple! All my cruise friends love it and even tho its NA diesel it still wastes their sweet little fiestas and novas B)

Not mine, I have the same model you have, with the plate in the trunk. Also all models of Carina, Corona and Avensis are actually called Corona here <_<

BTW, amazing what U did to your car...Congratulations!

I have a few questions to U: the rear foggies came wired? I cant see clearly, but in the interior pic seems that you have the factory rear foggies switch under the air con outlets. If so, would U be so kind of sending me the part #? Im trying to get one from the factory but they say they have 3 different models so I dont want to order the wrong one.

And I dont have pic of mine, only soon I can say...

My kind of guy...

Im interested in that job, I have a 1998 Turbo Diesel, and with her only 82 HP, I can tell, its a spaceship! Well I've never seen such a asceleration in a TD ( except the TDI engines with common rail... )

Now Im searching info about how to install a turbo preassure gauge, but noone gave a satisfactory answer... If you do it, just keep me posted!!!

Im not sure about how exactly you would fit a pressure guage but im sure there is a port on the turbo housing to place the sensor which comes with the guage. I myself am purchasing one of the trilogy multi colour LED guages and do a instrument panel rebuild. Im thinking, blue boost guage on left, purple Combined fuel/water next to it, Green/Red Speedometer in centre , yellow Tach on right - and of course i could change the colours just by pressing the button on the front. If your interested, the guages are about an inch and a bit in diameter and retail at about £40 for colour change and about £10 for standard

If ya wanna see a few Carina E's try birmingham! They are the car of choice for taxi firms round here. And now the Avensis is beginning to filter in for obvious reasons.

  • 2 weeks later...

yeah .. its true that we have a bigger scene for Carina E's than most other places, but that is IMO partly because of our very high car-prices overhere :censor:

the primary car for "our" age-group is still Corolla/Celica, but in these years, more and more younger ppl are buying and modding the Carina as it has reached and affordable price and actually is quite fast, its size taken in consideration .. in af few years the same will happen to the Avensis overhere

a more and more popular modification is fitting a turbo onto it - a specialist overhere does a turbo-install for about £1,200-1,300 if its running at lower pressure, a bit more if higher pressure is wanted :)

Heres a funny Carina story for you:

My mate at work sold his 94 Carina and bought a brand new Pug 206 cc. A few weeks later he was returning to his car having played a round of golf and as it was quite a nice day set the electric roof to open and it jammed half way - sticking straight up in the air ! he couldn't do anything about it.

After some time he decided to leave the Pug in the grounds of the golf club and arrange to get it sorted the next day. He then phoned for a mini cab to take him back home and - you've guessed it - a few minutes later his trusty old Carina comes to pick him up and get him home

:lol::lol:

Just a post to say I just read what you have been saying about a lack of Carina E drivers, Ive got one and its reliable but not very sporty. Its main purpose is to transport my stereo around though! Well impressed with modded pictures below, if I can get my hands on such parts I'l be keen for some of that. On another note, my wiper mechanism is worn, anybody got advice on fixing this for cheap or possible single wiper conversion?

A single wiper conversion is done in about 5 to 10 minutes.

You remove both the wiper arms.

You take the wiper blade from the driver's side and put it on the wiper arm from the passenger's side.

Then you put this wiper arm on the rotator from the passenger side in about the same position that my blade is on the picture above.

Then when you activate it, it wil clean the window far enough at the driver's side.
