Avensis Heating Fault

My 7-year old Avensis has an intermittent heating fault and although it was serviced 2 weeks ago and the Toyota dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong. Can anyone help?

When the car starts, usually the heating works fine but then after anything from 5-20 minute episode of it working, the heat just stops and cold air comes through instead and then doesn't work for the rest of the journey. More rarely, the heating doesn't work at the start and then kicks in later, only to stop during the trip. It's soooo annoying! Any tips? Many thanks.

It could be a number of things. The heating of your car is generated by the heat from the cooling system for the engine. Like a household radiator if it gets an airlock in it it will blow cold air and you also run the risk of the engine overheating.

It could also be a dodgy thermostat thats stuck open in the cooling system.

There could be a blockage within the heater core.

The valving arrangement that controls the hot and cold air could have a problem with it.

If your car has air conditioning make sure you understand how to use it..
