Toyota Lost Keys - Your Options Just Got Better

If you have lost your Toyota Keys there is no need to replace the ecu.

We have teamed up with JS Auto Repairs to offer this specialist service to any of you Guys or Girls that have lost your Toyota keys.

As many of you are no doubt aware, if you lose all of your master keys or in fact all of your keys then the dealers will say you need to replace the engine or immobiliser ecu and a new set of keys ordered. This is no longer the case.

JS Auto Repairs can supply you with the perfect solution. What you would need to do is remove the immobiliser or engine ecu (model dependant) and send to them along with the chassis number of the vehicle if it's a British one. They will cut you a new key and programme the key straight back into the immobiliser. When you receive the units back just put them in the car and it will start. This key will become your first master key and from there you can programme more keys should you wish to.

You can contact Jason at JS Auto Repairs on :-

United Kingdom

Mon-Fri 8.30-6pm

Sat 9-3pm

All times are GMT

Or you can email him at cs@jsautorepairs.co.uk

The price for this service is £150 including postage and a new mechanical master key already programmed into your unit ready to go. This offer applies to uk residents. Overseas residents will have to pay extra for the postage but the price of the service is the same.

On some occasions a lock barrel will also be required to decipher the lock cuts, especially if the vehicle is imported or not of British origin.

We hope this will be a valuable service to all our users.

Cheers

Steve

Hi to all members.

I have had many phone calls and emails regarding this service. Most of them asking what unit they need to send in. So i will try to answer some questions on here. Please read before calling as this will save a lot of time and trouble.

All Toyota VVTi's up to year 2004 have the key data stored in the ENGINE ECU. There is not a seperate immobiliser box. This Engine Ecu is what we would need to add keys to. Most of them are found behind the glovebox, but of course there are the exception to that rule.

Most other Toyotas have a seperate immobiliser box which is usually mounted behind the centre console. It will have a part number on it starting 89780. It will also have "Immobiliser ECU" written on it. It is approx 3" square and usually Black or Grey in colour. This box will need removing and sending to us.

The only different one is the Toyota Corolla. This car has an immobiliser aerial around the ignition switch unless it is a VVTi in which case it is still Engine ECU. Again this unit will need removing and sending to us.

The Avensis from year 2004 also now has a seperate immobiliser box. This is mounted behind the centre top display, or the sat nav screen. Simple to remove, just 3 screws. Remove the trim below the display by popping it out. Leave it laying there. There are 2 screws that hold the display in. Undo those 2 screws. Remove the display and unplug all connectors. Look up the back of the hole and you will see a black box with 1 screw holding it in. Remove that screw and the box will come out. This will have a part number of 89780-05030. This unit will need to be virginised and keys programmed into it manually. After that the diagnostic socket pins will need bridging for 40 minutes to programme the new immo codes to the engine ecu.

There are some vehicles which we would need to virginise the unit. The D4D stores key data strangely. Although this is rare it is still not a problem. In this case we would virginise the unit and supply you with instructions on how to programme your keys. You would get three keys from us, 2 of which will be a master key and 1 slave. This would be an extra £20 which is to cover the cost of the additional 2 keys.

Hopefully this has answered any questions you Guys or Girls have, but if you do have any further questions you know where to reach me.

Thank You

Jason Yorke

I thought that Toyota will get you new Keys to match the ignition or just change the ignition and locks and program the new key by plugging in the computer and registering it with the ECU. I asked Toyota for another one as i only had one key and they told me that. But they would cut me a new key and program just the key. They were asking £90 for a new key.

You can only register new keys if you have an existing working MASTER KEY using manual or diagnostic means. If you lose all keys then Toyota will sell you an ecu and key set which will requre programming, again either manually or by diagnostic equipment.

The only surefire way of dealing with this is a new lockset. You have a working master key still?

Hey guys and gals!

I am new to the forum and my reasons for joining is this topic!!

I have a long tale to tell but i will skip all the boring bits to get to the TAKE MY ADVICE stage...

If you handbag is stolen (as mine was) - or you simply lose all your keys by mistake (as a few people seem to have done!) I would recommend you DO NOT let some mobile lock smith get his hands on your lovely toyota (who then damaged my ECU unit beyond repair :crybaby: )

I would plead with you to contact Jason at Essex Auto Solutions. I was in need of someone who knows what they are doing and Jason (and Bob) are experts! They were very helpful and managed to fix my car (even after the mobile locksmith had done his damage).

MORAL OF THE STORY - call, email, or if you are local, go and see Jason first before someone unskilled messes up your car and ends up costing you £1000!

Jason can sort out any lost keys issue for much less than Toyota quote and they are brilliant guys as an added bonus - which is especially important for a girl - when lets face it some garages out there might have taken advantage of my situation...

Jason is my hero!

Big thank you to Jason and Bob for helping me out when i thought i would never get to drive my car again!

I just bought a Corolla Verso from Motorpoint and they only gave me one key with it.

Would you be able to supply me with a spare? What would you need to do this?

I cant send my only key to you for obvious reasons and I am in Scotland so too far away to just drop in so I dont know how I would go about it.

Would I be better just paying the approx £200 Toyota have quoted me for a spare?

Thanks

Lost my only master key and despaired after toyota dealer quoted £1500 to fix/replace ecu and give me a new master key. Found Jason and ABC Autos on this post and rang him. Problem sorted. Two new master keys and alarm back working in under 3 hours. Can't thank Jason enough, Fast efficient friendly service for less than half the toyota price. I would recommend him to anyone else in the same position. Five gold stars.

2001 Toyota Yaris - completely lost all sets of keys

Dealership quoting over £1000 not including labour and vat - plus need a breakdown truck to get the car to the dealership

What sort of cost can I be expecting from a local recommended auto locksmith ?

Am assuming Jason & co wont come out as far as Guildford ?

Gutted at this extortionate cost :(

Just had Jason sort my Avensis out after I stupidly lost the only key!

Toyota dealer said it wasn't possible to reprogram the ECU. Clearly not true as Jason managed it no problem.

Bought the new key fobs from Toyota and sent those and the ECU down to Essex from Scotland. A bit of a leap of faith, but so pleased I did. Saved a fortune as Toyota quoted £1100 + VAT!

Nice one Jason.

James
