Smooth Doors

Right then, I've noticed a C1 at work doesn't have the crappy plastic bump strips on the door. At 1st I thought this was maybe due to the fact that it's a newer model than our lasses. However, it isn't. The one at work is a 54 reg, our lasses is an 07.

If I was to remove the strips, would there be a "recess" where the strips fit, therefor haveing to go to a body shop to fill, smooth and paint. Or are they simply just "stuck" on, and the doors would be smooth once removed (maybe some sticky residue left behind)

May just try pulling them off. Could always stick back in place if they are recessed. Know a guy at a bodyshop anyway just in case, and neighbor has a polisher if i need to remove grime.

What's the best method to remove these? Same trick as de-badging (dental floss/fishing wire)?

EDIT: just realised thats a members only section - but basically yeah same principle, use something like spatchula to pull back and remove, use white spirit or tar remover for bits left.

I'm pretty sure the C1 has the strips stuck on too, without any recess.

First of all the front doors between the three types are exchangable, as long

as the number of doors is the same en the Aygo does NOT have a recess...

On top of that; making a recess involves extra cost on making door moulds

for pressing/stamping the sheetmetal. And since we ARE driving cars

designed to be cheap (hence the all-glass bootlid) that's a factor too...

Hi there Mat - i worked for Citroen for 2.5 years and can assure you that the rubbing strips are just stuck on, there is no recess when you take them off

cheers for the info guys. gotta persuade the mrs to remove them. She wont let me debadge, but if i tell her that removing the rub strips will make cleanin easier, i'm sure she'll let me :D
