They do come out, but I'm afraid I don't remember how. You don't need to lift them anyway...

There's a grommet behind the Battery that you can run your power from. It comes out behind the aircon unit behind the glove box. Remove the plastic panel in the bottom left of the footwell, and unclip the kick guard on the door frame. Carefully unclip the plastics around the door frame the support the rear seat's plastic sides (bad desciption, sorry - hope you understand!). This doesn't need to come out though, so don't go to too much effort! And the bits that loop around the door frame can be fragile, so be careful to not put them under too much stress as they can break. Also remove the plastic tray from the back of the boot, and it helps to take out the spare and the carpet. Looking backwards through the car, you should now see daylight behind the rear seat trim from the boot to the front seat.

Run your power cable along the door, then using a straightened out wire coathanger, feed the cabling along the inside of the rear seat's plastic trim till it pokes out in the boot. Refit plastic trim in reverse order, taping you cabling down where it needs holding.

Do the same on the other side, running your RCA and remote power (frequently combined in one cable) from headunit to boot (minus the bit about the grommet!). You should then be laughing!

Don't forget to put in-line fuses in with the power cabling. I've got one in-line under the bonnet, right next to the Battery, and a small dist board with fuses in the boot.

Hope that helps! Oh and this is all assuming its a G7 - you don't mention the model number...

  • 2 weeks later...

The base of the rear Seat pulls out with a good tug  you should then be able to feed the cable underneath. If you're still struggling, the rear Seat Backs are easily removed with the correct sized socket :)
