Aygo Needs An Aygo Faster Model

Looking at the nice white dutch Aygo in the other thread and also this Fiat

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/fi...500_abarth.html

It would seem that the Aygo range could do with a similar treatment to the Abarth 500 with a turbocharged GTi model being fitted with a factory turbo and about 120-150bhp. With people downsizing and still wanting a bit of fun I can see it being very popular. It would have to give 35mp though and have a relatively cheap insurance group ( maybe £350 per year tops for the aged like me). Not sure if that is doable thouh.

On another topic when you buy a new car then you often notice all the other ones on the road you always missed before, but all I see are C1's and 107's ! Why are there so many more of those when the Aygo looks far better with it's more aggressive front treatment and more expensive looking rear light cluster? Image?

Regards

Andy

Tottally agree about a faster model, 1.4 would be excellent fun!!

As for the 107 and C1s I think there is more of them as they are generally cheaper to buy so if people are getting them becasue for low running cost etc, they prob dont care that much about the styling.

I'd love a 1.4 version. My fave car from my youth was a Citroen AX GT - light, quick, handled, cheap to run.

Persionally, I think the C1 is the best looking of the bunch... Aygo least, 107 in the middle. Each to their own.

I like those VX220's !

I went from a Mercedes AMG C43 to my Aygo due to running costs rather than crashing, but I know what you mean.

First thing that attracted me to the Aygo was the CO2 rating. Not sure a faster model is that attractive, but think maybe 6 gears rather than the standard 5 would be a big help, if you want to overtake someone doing 35mph, second ratio is too long, once you get to 40mph it is fine, but as first goes to 35mph the gap between the ratios is annoying to say the least, I am not sure exactly to what, but I think it would be a big improvement if the first three gears were closer together.

On the point of which one you get the C1 and 107 seem to hold the percentage resale value on autotrader as well as the Aygo.
