As above chaps. It started to come on only intermittently at first, now it's on permanently.

We don't have the handbook with the car to give the description of the fault. Does the warning light also warn for low pads (could it be that simple :D ).

Thanks.

Dan.

sorry i dont think the pads will bring on the warning light,

unless someone knows different  .

You should prob take it somewhere to get checked over though,

as you can not really risk a problem with your brakes.

Its better to be safe than sorry.

Not sure bout that have not tried. I'll take it somewhere safe tomorrow and give it a go.

When the light was intermittent the pedal did 'jump' as if the ABS was working, BUT, it did this erratically and not necessarily when the wheels were about to stop turning. Now however it does nothing at all so I suspect it's not working.

I was hoping soneone may be able to diagnose before the garage takes a huge wedge. ;)

Are sensors easy to change? Will the ABS light need reseting and/or clearing from the memory?

Edit: Checked pads and they have plenty of meat left on both sides..

Do you know where the sensors are on the Yaris? I'll jack it up and take a look.

Okay.......

I jacked the car and removed the sensors. The ends were a bit rusty so cleaned them all off and refitted. Still no joy. Doh!

Car now at the Toyota specialist to have the codes checked. Annoying cus if I had the kit I could have done that myself. Is there a code reader on the market for these cars?

I had the ABS light come on as well (also the EM light, but that's another story). The ABS connector needed replacing as it ws corroded - it cost about 45 quid, but this was a local garage, not a Toyota, as my local Toyota charges an arm and a leg for most things.

Tell me about it. My local Toyota specialist have diagnosed the fault as front left and right speed sensors and they want £135.00 + VAT for each one plus 1.5 hrs labour.

So does anyone know if we can read and reset fault codes without the need to visit a garage????

Word on here is that you can reset by disconnecting the Battery for about a minute, and I have also read opn here about getting diagnostic machines.

Yeah think that only works for the engine ECU. Doesn't the ABS have a separate one?

Anyone know where I can find non OE parts?
