Have just received my Yaris, only had to wait 6 weeks.

A quick question for mmt users, can you change from E mode to M mode whilst moving? When we looked at this transmission we test drove it on a Auris as the dealer didn't have a Yaris with it and I'm sure on that one we could start using E mode and then change over to M mode and vise versa, but the Yaris doesn't seem to do this, you can only change from one to the other when the car is stationary is this right? You can ignore all of that. Sorry. Just been for another drive and it does change from one to the other, the problem is it will only change gear when it wants to even in manual mode if you try to move it up a gear before it thinks it should it won't change gear. Odd design.

On another note, why no paddles on the Yaris? Loved the idea of gear paddles which are on the Auris MMT but not the Yaris.

Mine's the same, I suspect it's to prevent straining the gearbox by being in too high a gear. You may have noticed it doesn't kick-down either whilst in M but when you slow it will change down. I only use M in a few places where the car wants to go uphill in a higher gear than I would choose, (you can achieve the same result by pressing the Es button which stops too soon a change when in auto setting).
