Yup we have had a week of it with our engineers passats too.

EML light /exhaust sensor x2 this week. Radiator failure, Every single one has had the handbrake failure :D One had the particulate filter fail/clog what ever goes wrong with htem, that was a grand!

Obviously tyres and brakes have worm, but you can't really count them!

Edit: this is Karma Supra!

We could tell by the spelling

You should have said nothing & let Milly take the slagging

Don't confuse poor spelling with poor typing!

I am now in an Avensis after 2 company Passats (1.9 diesels).

Both cars were at 3 years / 67000 miles when handed back.

The first car had no issues whatsoever but the second suffered from surprisingly high oil consumption.

No squeaks, rattles or groans.

Handling was somewhat agricultural (both were estates) and rough roads could lead to "interesting" steering.

The second car ate front tyres and I had the tracking checked. Despite it being wildly out, the lease company refused to authorise the fix so it carried on eating tyres!

I loved the automatic handbrake however have had no trouble going back to the manual in the Avensis.

Fuel mileage on both cars was 44mpg.

Why did I change to Totota?

Got bored.

Commiserations. I don’t think we have had any Turbos go yet!

I remember taking my M3 in for some warranty work. They offered me a hire car, I thought I’d get a little 1 series which I was looking forward to, they offered me a Chevrolet Matiz, then wanted to charge a extra £30 insurance for the “pleasure” (Clearly my insurance for a group 20 car was insufficient)

Then again, it is a widely documented fact......

Nothing is quicker than a hire car!!!

Got the old girl back :yahoo: Its made me appreciate how much i like its comfort  That Astra looked nice but really was average, can't imagine how you could "fall in love with driving again" in one of them

Engine exhaust smoke is coming into the cabin, probably due to recent turbo replacement. Had to drive all day with exhaust smoke coming out of the front grill and the air con on recirc or i would have been feeling really ill.

This car is starting to annoy me :help:

Roll on Wednesday to see what Mr VW has to say

She's back :D

Gasket from turbo to DPF (£5.50) labour £880, the 2 dealers have agreed this gasket was at fault. So both dealer's agreed with each other that their work was not at fault, this leaves my employer with another hire car bill. (£250) i wonder how Mr T would behave?

I forgot i never finished this, 3yrs gone in a flash

The old girl had discs and pads at 90k and just tyres until she went back 120k. The vibration and rattles never got sorted but that Passat did prove to be a solid old boat, i miss her..... :crybaby:

The Avensis is very similiar, not as good on fuel though, albeit she does have a lot more toys, shame it doesnt have the full auto handbrake like the Passat.

I bet the old girl is taxi-ing a away happily now.
