Yaris Sr And Ipod

Hi there,

New poster to the forum though I have read a few threads before I collected my Yaris a fortnight ago.

I have a Yaris SR with the TNS400 sat nav thingy. Like others I had a problem with the SatNav crashing but its been fixed.

The question I have is how do I go about connecting my Ipod to the unit?

It says in the manual that you need a special cable... is this different from the cable you use to connect your ipod to your computer when synchronising it?

I've tried using the standard cable that comes with the ipod (Apple to USB), but the unit then does not recognise any songs.

And help would be appreciated

Thanks

You do need a special cable, it plugs in to the rear of the headunit. I have the cable running to the top glovebox on the passenger side. I have used it with a iPhone and Nano and it works fine. I got this as I could not get the standard sync cable to work via the front USB socket either. I managed to get mine FOC because of all the hassle with the SatNav but it works really well.

You cant use the standard iPod cable with the SR stereo system - it just wont work. You need a proper MP3 cable (as i think iPods are MP4 arent they?)

You can get these from places like maplins etc.

There is a kit you can get via Toyota accessories. This connects to the rear of the stereo unit ( +12v, Negative, phono socket) pretty easy to fit and the cable is routed into glove box :).

Mart.
