Anyone out there got experience in buying domain names?

Clicked on a few sites and prices vary from £2.49p upwards.

Who is best to go with? I require an email address and minimal hosting space.

I use Fasthosts (www.fasthosts.com), they provide all levels of hosting and domain registration. They also let you choose between Windows or Linux based hosting.

I can tell you what you need to watch out for (aka stung by!)

Don't buy from a place which sticks on adverts on YOUR site unless you pay extra (UK2.net is a prime example)

Don't buy from a place which charges you to move your name to another place (quite a few do)

I have usually bought from ukreg.com/fasthosts - they will charge about £6 for a .uk name for 2 names

What you can also do is use free hosting space (which you probably have already from your ISP?) and use a think called "masked forwarding" so when someone goes to your domain, they actually ened up at your free space but don't know it.

Use this kind of method and you will have your own domain, email and hosting for £3 a so a year.
