Have been given a plot in a friends garden where I can grow stuff. B) Thought today as the sun is shining (I know odd init!) I'd go do a bit of clearing the land ready for digging over - energetic or wot?? Got going with a vigour pulling up the weeds and started to feel a bit sorta itchy. Stopped and..................bl**dy red ants were everywhere..................I mean EVERYWHERE!!! :o Up my trouser legs, round my middle where my top had ridden up, all over my arms...and they were biting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So I beat a retreat and when I got home stripped off (calm down please!) and have been applying anthisan like its going out of fashion.

 OK anyone got any advice how to get rid of the b**gers?

You'll struggle to get rid of them. They have ant traps here, you put them on the ground, the ants go into it thinking it's food, they take it back to the nest and then it kills them (apparently). Only con is it can't get wet (no good for UK). Otherwise find the nest, put some petrol down it

They love a good soak in boiling water , and Talc is quite good - cheaper than ant powder but seems to work just as well- don't know why.

We ended up getting rid of the last plague we had with Woolworths New Ant Killer II - also works on cockroaches, earwigs, woodlice and other creepy crawlies
