Cut 'n paste of email exchange shown below, (names ******'d..)..

I'd been exploring the world of Toyota having just bought my first, (ignoring the Lexus), and idly thought I'd check my understanding of the service interval ,, so looked it up on techdoc.toyota-europe.eu - having, may I say in positive feedback to Mr T, found it had some very useful stuff ... and found it didn't have the Avensis in the maintenance schedule look-up.. so asked a simple question by email, kinda expecting a "thanks, we'll fix that" reply.. but got....

Subject: Maintenance schedule for Avensis

Dear all..

Just bought an 2nd hand Avensis (2008 March registered) and was looking

at your site...

http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/MaintenanceSchedules.aspx

to check maintenance schedule...

Lots of cars listed but not, as far as I could tell, the Avensis...

(I assume maintenance is every 10,000 miles..)

Can you advise where the schedule for the Avensis is on your website

please??

Regards & thanks in advance

Sorry about that clicked by accident. I have used this site only to get the instructions to fit accessories to the car. It has saved me a quoted, all together, £320 to fit a grill, front splitter and the wiring of rear parking sensors at different times. I've used it to weigh up things I can DIY and things that need a pro. Apparently Toyota garages use a system similar to this to base work quotations from but from experience it is not consistent with different garages. For example I had TMG springs fitted, the techdoc reckoned 2 hours work to fit it. One garage quoted £450+ vat to fit so technically thats £225 +vat for 2`hours labour. Another garage which I went for in the end quoted £180+ vat for 2 hours work (quote based on their Toyota computer info)which though expensive was more reasonable. I got a call from the mechanic saying who ever reckoned it was a 2 hour job should try fitting it themselves and he wasn't going to finish on time and they asked for another £50 on top! In the end they had the car until the following day I dropped it. So is it usefull, yes for what I've used it for, basically to see if the quotes I was getting for my accessories were either reasonable or wether I can do them myself.

Thanks,

Jezza
