Headlights No Worky!

Hello All, Any thoughts on this problem? Car is an 03 2.0 VVti T4.

A few days ago I turned on lights as normal (side lights first click, then turned second click) and nothing happened! Dipped beam just won't come on. Side bulbs work, full beam works but dipped just stopped working on both sides just like that. I have just about checked every fuse in the car (started with the box at front of engine that should be the first ones to check) and pulled the dipped bulbs out and they are not blown. So could it be the actual stalk on the steering column is broken? Has anyone ever heard of this before? Have I got rats in the garage that could have nibbled the leads? It's lucky I have front fogs as I'm just managing on them at the moment.

Appreciate the help.

Possibly the dip switch, dipped beam relay (if it has one) or a broken wire even. You really need to get in there with a test light or voltmeter and trace it through. As for running on the foglights, you could get pulled up for that, it's illegal to use foglights unless visibility is below 100m so best get the dipped beam fixed ASAP.

Of course, using the fogs will attract attention to you in the first place. If the police subsequently discover your headlights are faulty, they can ticket you for that as well....

Thanks QS and carinfront,

I'll get those things checked then. There's a good auto electric place near to me.

Just a thought, if I do get pulled for driving on fogs and explain that I haven't got my contacts in so can't see 100m no matter what the visibility is, think I might get away with it?!

Cheers.
