Gen 6 Window Fogging

Celica David

My windows fog up really quickly on my Gen 6 Celica. The only way to get rid of the mist on the inside of the windows is to open a window or turn on the air con. This is even with internal air recirculation turned on.

I think the problem is due to the air recirculation button because the green light turns on when the air is recirculated within the cabin, but when I press the button again the other green light - which means air is being taken in from outside - does not turn on.

So my question is, when you press the air recirculation button repeatedly, does it switch between 2 green lights that turn on, or is there just one? Also, any tips on how to fix this if it sounds like it is broken?

Thanks a lot.

I recently bought a gen 6 celica and i also have the same problem. I think its the seals around the windows as they dont seem to be the best. With my model i have two buttons each for air recirculation and air from outside so not sure what you mean by the one button and 2 lights? I only have the lower spec ST model mind. Thanks for the tip about staying away from air recirculation GT4 BOOSTER because i never know which is best for de-misting

if you think its poor door seal around the window, try moving the striker latch plate on the door post in about 1 or 2mm for a better tighter seal on door glass and rubber seal when the door is closed , or spray around rubber with a silicone spray .

I attach a photo of the button in question with some numbers added.

1. is the internal air recirculation. A little green light on this side of the button lights up when I have this on.

2. is the option to take air in from outside. The green light doesn't turn on no matter how many times I press the button. I'm wondering whether anyone else has this button light up or not? I have a feeling this option is broken on my celica because no light turns on.

Check this post out David, I know it`s a different car but it may be the same cause.

Thanks for the suggestion. I couldn't find any obvious signs of leaves in my air vents, assuming they are the ones below the window screen.

I had a look a the owner's manual and it says that there are in fact 2 lights on the air circulation button. This means either that one of my little lights on the button is broken, or, the button isn't working properly to switch the air circulation properly. If I can fix this then I'd like to think that I could alleviate my manic window fogging problem.
