Clutch Burning

Recently purchased a Gen7 T-Sport (53 Plate) and i've noticed that if I have to hold it on the bite on a hill start it burns the clutch like mad, the smell takes about 10 mins to clear from inside the car. I've not noticed any other problems with the clutch, no slipping at high-gear low speed acceleration, no slip when the lift kicks in or anything.

Is this a sign to be ready to get a new clutch soon, the car's done 62k and was serviced in April, or is it just that I need to learn to use it better - last 3 cars were diesels, felt strange going over 4k revs for a while, let alone taking it up to 8k

Also, any other things I need to watch for, how often do you check the oil on this engine, I know it's not going to use tons being post 51 plate, and what service interval would you recommend, 12k, or less ?

TIA
