On the same subject ish, a customer of mine who worked at Longbridge told me that on Rover 800's hitting the front towing eye (hard) with a hammer would pop the airbags out and open all the doors/boot (locks!) and cars were being stolen like this as the immobiliser deactivated

Obviously i have never tested the theory :P

that certainly worked with some of the first volvos to have airbags

The airbag did not deflate either, they deflate nearly as fast as they inflate!

The bonding used to bond the windscreen to the body also changed when airbags came in, if you didnt use the right stuff, the screen would blow out at the same time...........scary
