I have the dreaded problem with my TNS400...

The SD card became corrupt.. and i didnt make a previous backup of it, i have spoken to the dealer and they have ordered a new bigger card with the maps on it, and that should be ok once it arrives, but they are looking at the new year!

Can anyone please e-mail me a copy of their backup or the file called "cname.dat" please.

As i REALLY cant go without using it untill then!

Ide be forever in your dept!

Oh no...sorry that this happened. How big is the card you have now and what size have they ordered? I've collected my car but am still waiting on the navi to arrive.

Im not sure how big the card it comes with is, however... the simple fix is to get yourself a card "2 gig or more" and just copy and paste the original card once it arrives "do not turn the sat nav on or use it" untill you have done this.

Toyota called me today, they want the car for 1.5 hours on Jan 3rd, they are going to just replace the whole unit... why they cant just fix it god only knows.

Ile let you know the outcome.

Our car went into get an ipod connection + loan navi (ours hasn't arrived). Left loads of scratches on the centre facia and didn't even lend a navi because it had disappeared. What a waste!

Does your car have mud flaps? The rear ones on our car are catching on absolutely everything. Rubbish design!!!

The problem with small jobs like a sat-nav, they let the Jr's do it as its a "simple" job... this is how you get a ruined Facia, tip is to always check ur car first, it may seem Anal, but it will save you having your car scratched.

Fortunatley for me i know an Engineer and the Salesman personally outside of Toyota, so ile have it looked after.

How much did your iPod cable cost? i havent asked about it yet, but i dont really use my car, i use it on Weekends only as i always drive my works van in the week.

The mud flaps are fine for me, but i just use it for Urban jaunts.

I let my Dad take the car in. I would have overlooked small things & waited if the dealer wasn't so passive.

Some wheel bolts are rusting too, salesman advised they need to wait for Toyota to authorize before they can replace them! On a week old car, come on. I didn't want to argue because I was at work. Also promised to drop the navi off y/day for the trouble but nothing happened apart from email from salesmanager to ask to contact salesman on Saturday prompted by my call/msg left early in the day & an email...will have some serious words & probably dump the car over to them. Those mud flaps are really annoying & not fit for purpose. Do you think I could get Toyota UK refund part cost of this option & even remove them from the car? Not fit for purpose, poor design and not how a reasonable person would not expect them spring to mind. Rant over!

Btw they did it for cost of cable £43 (trade I'm sure), to make the deal. I'm sure your buddies could do the same for you.

I'll send you a PM sometime for a recommendation, I wanted to use the dealer you use to buy the car anyway and will use them for future work.

Only got the front mudflaps on mine and have no problems with them.

Front mudflaps can prevent the niggly door stone chips from the stones thrown up by the front wheels.

I had the 'scratches' problem a while back when my E12 Corolla went in for replacement seat covers. The dealer had to take the seats out and took a big gouge out of the door trim. I collected the car in the dark and didn't spot it till next day. went straight back and dealer asked mechanic who did the job to come see. Unsurprisingly he denied damaging the car (in fact I am surprised the service manager put the mechanic in that position to be fair). However, the inside of my car is always spotless and I told the dealer I know every mark inside and that definitely wasn't one of them! The Service Manager reluctantly agreed to replace the trim so a result after much unnecessary fuss.

So persist in getting the scratches sorted.

Matt_SRD4D did you not get a recall letter from Toyota about the SD cards? Seems odd you have to approach the dealer. I got a letter at the start of December asking me to check the colour of the card - luckily mine was the updated one (picked the car up in october).

No, i didnt, but ive only had my car about 4 weeks i think, so may still be in line too get the letter.

My car goes in on Sat anyway now to get it sorted, ive not actually used it in 2 weeks lol.

Well its Official, the new Sat Nat is ALOT better! and has more features!

Toyota have told the Dealers too give everyone a fuel payment for the hasstle ... SO MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR IT!

I as in there for about 45 mins y-day morning, they just changed my unit over and hey presto... it works!

If you have a BLUE TomTom card.... get it changed.

If you have a BLACK TomTom card... your ok!

Since having mine upgraded, I've noticed that the radio doesn't mute when I receive an incoming phone call. It continues to play after the call has connected.

It works OK muting the radio on outgoing `calls and it used to work muting the radio on incoming calls, but it doesn't any more.

I'm assuming that its to do with the software upgrade they've made to the radio head unit.

Can anyone else confirm one way or the other....?

You need to Set that in the options, ile have a look today and let you know what one, i also used too have trouble with 2 radio stations, they kept switching between eachother! now they dont.

I got my SR November 08 - it was a demonstrator. I'm a not very theincal girl and not sure what the tomtom SD cards are that you are talking about??? I got a book for the TNS4000 but not for the tomtom - is this right? I've just bought a new mobile phone and was advised that any bluetooth phone would be compatible but after not being able to load phone book for hands free calling went back to provider and was told it may be only part compatible and they will change if I find a list of compatible phones??? please help

Hi,

Just checking - are you sure that you couldn't load the address book? My Nokia phone gives an error message, saying it can't connect when I try to download the address book, but then the Tomtom carries on downloading it.

Give it another go and wait a few minutes. You might find the data is there despite the error message....

After I tried to download and got the "sod off" message on the phone, I found that if I then tried to use the "manage phones" section of the satnav, it said "busy downloading address book". That was the only way I knew something was still going on. There was no other way to tell, but eventually there was a message on the sat nav screen saying "download complete" and it was done.
