Clutch Pedal Squeak

I have a very annoying squeak (Avensis d4d 2.0 T3-X) when I push in or release my clutch pedal. I thought I just needed a bit of grease to fix this but when I checked it, the squeak appears to be comming from the brass coloured rod that (from my reading on this forum) appears to activate a hydrolic cylinder on the clutch. Is this cylinder hard to replace or is there anything that can be done to stop this noise apart from replacing the complete hydrolic mechanism? If I dont replace it, is it likely to fail?

Thanks in advance

The squeak will either be coming from under the dashboard (clutch master cylinder - you can grease the rod/pivot for this but it usually comes back sooner or later)

or from the engine bay (clutch arm pivot ball - you can also grease this by either unbolting the slave cylinder, removing the dust boot and then using a small paint brush you can brush copper grease onto the pivot ball. Or you can try using a long pry bar to lever the pivot arm back enough to get the brush in)

I would remove the slave cylinder for better access myself, if the noise is coming from the engine bay.

Mart.

I put a good coat of grease on the rod which comes from the pedal. I have the T-spirit myself but i know that this is a common problem on avensis.
