Banging Over Bumps...

Hi everyone, just recently my SR has been harsh over bumps, catseye's ect and i was wondring if anyone has had similar problems?

Only today, i hit a small pothole and it sounded so loud i thought the shock had broke!! :censor: After a check it seems ok though.

Incidentally it went in for it's MOT last week and passed no problem, not even an advisory notice which i found hard to beleive on an (nearly) 9yr old car.

So now i'm thinking of changing the entire suspension, maybe drop it a bit or just improve the harsh ride.

Any reccomendations as towards shocks, springs ect??

Cheers.

I shouldn't think it's serious or the MOT would have picked it up. Sorry I can't be more help.

Mine has started jarring a bit since I put the tyre pressures up to 31 front and 30 rear.

[You almost certainly have worn drop links.

RCheck them : the rubber bushes will be shot.

I replaced mine after 35k miles and made a difference to the ride.

I have had the same thing recently on my 2001 yaris. The drop links i believe connect 2 parts of the suspension arm. I had both mine done at kwik fit for £70. toyota quoted £140 for the same job. They are basically bits of rubber which perishes over time and is not helped by the state of the roads etc. mine just went after turning a corner at normal speed. The problem sounds a lot worse than it is but will need doing ASAP. hope this helps. by the way if it is this problem i would take it back to the place where you had MOT done because they should have picked it up. Toyota did my service and they warned me about it!
